Count Camillo Benso of Cavour, one of the protagonists of the Italian Unification, was the owner of this castle. Here he stayed between 1832 and 1849, when he was Mayor of the Municipality of Grinzane. He is the man behind interesting discoveries also in the field of viticulture. His furniture, manuscripts and the Mayor’s Three-colored Sash are stored in the Castle.
