Wine tasting of Valle d’Aosta DOC wines – Vallée d’Aoste – The best of high altitude wines.

It is an Aosta Valley to be savoured, with a thousand facets and many colours for the tourist to discover. A region where nature and landscape reign supreme, but where agri-food culture, wine and gastronomy know how to surprise, where past and future, tradition and originality come together to offer ever new emotions and experiences. The smallest region in Italy, nestled in the Alps, still has an agriculture that has adapted to the morphology of the land, shaping it over time and creating a fair balance between nature, man and the changing seasons. Among the most important agricultural products of Valle d’Aosta, the four DOP (denomination of protected origin) products Fontina, Valle d’Aosta Fromadzo, Valle d’Aosta Jambon de Bosses and Valle d’Aosta Lard d’Arnad deserve special mention. In addition to the DOP products, the Valle d’Aosta has more than thirty PAT (Traditional Agricultural Products) products of various types and the Génépy, which will receive the IG mark in 2019; they represent an important heritage of high quality niche products that enhance the territory and culture of our rural reality, telling the history and food tradition of our region. The most emblematic demonstration of the quest for quality combined with the development of food and wine are the great achievements of Valdostan wines. Their quality is internationally recognised, also thanks to the preservation of many autochthonous vines. The desire to enhance the combination of quality and territory has led to the recognition of the controlled origin of the main wines produced with the ‘DOC Valle d’Aosta – Vallée d’Aoste’ mark, which covers all the production of the territory, with seven sub-all the productions achieved in the territory with seven sub-denominations related to the area and fifteen to the vine variety.
