Chef Andrea Larossa was born in Verbania near Lake Maggiore and learned the Lazio culinary art of cooking from his mother and that of Lucania from his father at a very early age, therefore uses genuine ingredients when preparing his dishes with rich flavors, the culture of good food and offering the joy of sitting at the table. After his experience in Milan, at Carlo Cracco’s kitchen, he was shipped off to Alba where he landed at the Locanda del Pilone where he characterized his knowledge and techniques of the Langhe tradition in combination with the Japanese culture of Chef Kondo. In november 2017 he earned his first Michelin Star.
The winery began its production in the 1950s under the guidance of Giuseppe Damonte. Giuseppe was a dreamer who loved his land and realized that the Roero area had great potential. Today Giuseppe’s sons Massimo and Roberto, who inherited the same dream and passion from their father, are at the helm of Malvirà. Over time the company has grown and conquered new markets but its management remains family-run; Massimo takes care of the vineyards and Roberto of the winery. Giacomo, Roberto and Patrizia’s son, graduated from the Alba School of Oenology and took his first steps in the family business; while Massimo and Federica’s sons, Lucia, Francesco and Pietro, are still in primary school.
Patrizia, Roberto’s wife, takes care of the farm “Villa Tiboldi”: nine elegant rooms in the heart of the Trinità vineyard. Enthusiasm, passion and determination are the key qualities of the Damonte brothers and their collaborators. To each member of the Malvirà “family” making wine means to produce a wine that reflects the “Roero”area in its purest and most elegant form.
